The federal Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development met with regional ministers to discuss the upcoming population census in Somalia.
Mohamed Beenebeene held a meeting with other planning ministers from the Federal Member States (FMS) on Sunday.
He presided over the consultative meeting that discussed plans for the upcoming population and housing census in the East African nation.
Somalia has only conducted the population census twice since getting independence in 1960.
The first was in 1975 followed by another one in 1985-86.
However, in both instances, the country never published the results of its census. Since then, the country has suffered a dearth of reliable and accurate statistics.
Somalia plans to carry out the third census in its history in 2023.
