Mogadishu, Somalia – In their weekly meeting held Thursday and chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, the Council of Ministers commended the Somali National Armed Forces for their decisive role in upholding law and order in the border town of Beled-Hawo, Gedo region.
The cabinet praised the troops for swiftly intervening to stabilize the situation, protect civilians, and prevent further unrest following recent tensions in the area. The ministers emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to preserving national unity and ensuring peace across all regions of the country.
“The heroic efforts of our National Armed Forces in Beled-Hawo reaffirm the government’s resolve to protect its citizens and uphold the rule of law,” Prime Minister Barre stated, highlighting the professionalism displayed during the operation.
The Council reiterated the importance of collaboration between security forces and local authorities to maintain lasting stability. They also urged community leaders to support state institutions and reject any attempts to incite violence or undermine public safety.
Beled-Hawo, a key border town near Kenya, has experienced intermittent political and security challenges. The latest government response signals a broader effort to assert federal authority and strengthen security coordination in contested areas.
The cabinet also discussed other pressing national matters, including ongoing stabilization efforts, humanitarian priorities, and preparations for the next phase of the national development plan.
