Mogadishu, Somalia – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Sunday unveiled a comprehensive review of his cabinet’s performance, marking three years since the administration took office.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the review exercise held at the Prime Minister’s headquarters in Mogadishu, Barre emphasized that his government had delivered “significant progress in areas aligned with community needs and national development.”
The review seeks to assess achievements across ministries, identify gaps, and ensure accountability in line with national priorities.
The Prime Minister highlighted key areas of progress, including expanded service delivery, infrastructure investment, fiscal discipline, and reforms in governance and security.
“This review is not only a reflection on what we have achieved but also a commitment to continue building a government that serves its people with transparency, efficiency, and accountability,” Barre said.
He underscored his administration’s dedication to “good governance amid the government’s accomplishments,” noting that inclusive development and the rule of law remain central pillars of his leadership.
The event was attended by cabinet ministers, senior government officials, and representatives of state institutions, who welcomed the initiative as a necessary step toward strengthening institutional performance.
According to officials, the review will culminate in a detailed report that will guide policy adjustments and strategic planning ahead of the next phase of national development programs.
Analysts say the move comes at a critical time, as Somalia continues to navigate challenges ranging from security threats to economic recovery, while also pursuing constitutional reforms and preparing for the 2026 elections.
By publicly reviewing its performance, the government aims to reinforce public trust and signal its readiness to remain accountable to citizens and partners.
