PM Barre Launches Construction of Largest Mall in Somalia

The construction of a new ultra-modern complex in Mogadishu, initiated by Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, marks a significant step toward enhancing trade and tourism in Somalia’s capital.

This development aligns with the region’s trend of establishing large-scale commercial hubs.

Notably, the Business Bay Square (BBS) Mall in Eastleigh, Nairobi, currently holds the title of the largest mall in East and Central Africa.

Spanning 130,000 square meters, BBS Mall features over 3,500 shops, three hospitals, 32 restaurants, 12 banks, a seven-star hotel, 364 toilets, and 2,200 parking spaces.

It is projected to attract more than 150,000 visitors daily.

The new complex in Mogadishu aims to contribute similarly to the city’s economic growth by providing state-of-the-art facilities and services, thereby attracting both local and international visitors.
