PM Barre Meets Yemeni Ambassador to Discuss Bilateral Ties and Refugee Support

Mogadishu, Somalia – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre received the Ambassador of Yemen to Somalia, Fadli Ali Ahmed, on Monday for a high-level meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and addressing shared humanitarian concerns.

The two officials discussed ways of strengthening cooperation between Somalia and Yemen, focusing particularly on the situation of Yemeni refugees and diaspora communities currently residing in Somalia.

Both sides expressed commitment to supporting displaced populations and ensuring their protection and integration.

Prime Minister Barre reaffirmed Somalia’s solidarity with the people of Yemen and emphasized the historic and cultural ties that bind the two nations. He also underscored Somalia’s ongoing efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

Amb. Fadli praised the Somali government’s hospitality and support for Yemeni nationals, and conveyed Yemen’s readiness to deepen diplomatic and development partnerships with Somalia.

The meeting reflects both countries’ shared interest in fostering stronger political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation amid growing regional challenges.
