PM Barre Says NCC Will Continue Despite Madobe’s Exit

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre affirmed that the National Consultative Council (NCC) will continue its work.

He said this in the wake of reports that one of the key leaders left the summit acrimoniously following misunderstandings with federal leaders .

The exit of Jubbaland President Ahmed Madobe left the meeting in a bit of disarray.

Madobe recently announced his withdrawal from the NCC, citing concerns over its effectiveness and the need for reforms.

Despite this, PM Barre emphasized that the NCC’s agenda will move forward, as it plays a critical role in discussing federalism, security, and governance in Somalia.

Madobe’s departure could signal deeper tensions within Somalia’s federal structure, but Barre remains committed to ensuring the continuation of the NCC’s operations.

The Jubbaland leader already traveled back to Kismayo leaving his colleagues in Mogadishu.
