Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is set to lead a high-level delegation, including members of parliament, on his inaugural official visit to Laascaanood, the capital of the SSC-Khaatumo administration. This visit marks the first time a senior Somali government official has traveled to the region since the Federal Government recognized SSC-Khaatumo’s interim administration.
In September 2023, a delegation comprising federal ministers and parliamentarians visited Laascaanood, engaging with local authorities and assessing the aftermath of recent conflicts. They emphasized collaboration with the SSC-Khaatumo administration and conveyed their findings to the federal government.
Subsequently, in October 2023, Prime Minister Barre hosted SSC-Khaatumo leader Abdikadir Ahmed Aw-Ali (Firdhiye) in Mogadishu. Their discussions focused on the region’s conditions and underscored the federal government’s commitment to Somalia’s unity and conflict resolution through dialogue.
This upcoming visit by Prime Minister Barre to Laascaanood signifies a continued effort to strengthen ties between the federal government and the SSC-Khaatumo administration, aiming to promote stability and development in the region.
