PM Barre Seeking Partnership Instead of Charity

Tangier, Morocco – Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre gave a keynote speech at the closing of the MEDays International Forum in Morocco, emphasizing the crucial need for stronger connectivity and collaboration among Global South countries.

In his address, the Prime Minister pointed to the fresh era Somalia has begun, as the nation restores its historical prominence and global standing. He stressed that Somalia stands stable with dependable security and clear political guidance, advancing key reforms and reconstruction to support regional and international stability.

“We did not come here seeking charity. We came seeking partnership, prepared to offer ideas, participate in substantive dialogues, and tackle the challenges we all confront,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister also asserted that Africa must cease being a mere bystander in world matters, urging the continent to adopt an active and decisive role in forming future global agendas.

This year’s four-day MEDays Forum wrapped up with Somalia taking a prominent position and forging extensive partnerships and collaborations that serve its immediate and enduring national goals.
