Reports from Mogadishu indicate that the police have thwarted at attempted Al-Shabaab attack in Bal’ad Town.

According to Sayid Doodishe, the Police Commander in the town, officers detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Saturday.

Members of a police elite squad carried out the mission that could have proved fatal in the town, damaged properties, and caused numerous injuries.

Doodishe said police officers are now patrolling the town to ensure that the extremists do not have a chance to plan another attack.
