Police Warns Opposition Parties against Holding Unauthorized Protests in Somaliland

Police officers in Somaliland have warned opposition politicians and supporters against holding unauthorized protests in the country.

Somaliland Police issued the warning to opposition politicians and their supporters on Sunday, July 31.

The warning comes in the wake of increased protests by opposition parties in the last few months.

Opposition politicians are protesting reports that President Muse Bihi Abdi could be on the verge of calling off the elections scheduled for later this year.

They want the elections to take place on schedule on November 13, 2022.

The head of the police posted a video on Facebook calling upon the politicians to be cognizant of the fact that the law of the land is against “unauthorized demonstrations.”
