Political parties in Sweden have urged the international community to accord Somaliland the much-needed recognition.
Markus Wiechel, a Swedish lawmaker, said that parliament first handled the Somaliland issue nine years ago.
Wiechel is a member of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.
He confirmed that two political parties had already expressed hope to push this agenda in parliament and beyond.
The parties in question are the Christian Democrats and Sverigedemokraterna.
Wiechel serves as the Vice President of the Somaliland-Sweden Friendship Group.
He spoke following discussions with Zakariye Waeys and Mikael Torstensson.
Waeys is the Somaliland Ambassador while Torstensson is a Special Envoy.
