A popular hotel in Mogadishu has been reopened three years after a deadly attack by Al-Shabaab that killed more than 20 people.
In 2018, the hotel came under heavy attack by members of the Al-Qaeda linked group. The hotel’s owner was among the more than 20 people who died in the incident.
Sahafi Hotel has proved to be quite popular with politicians, Members of Parliament, and security officials.
The former owner, Abdifatah Abdirashid, died in the 2018 incident. He had inherited the hotel from Abdirashid Mohamed, his father, who died in 2014 in a similar incident.
On Saturday, the hotel was reopened amid tight security.
The hundreds of customers rushed into the hotel to order their favorite meals prove that the establishment has not lost any of its allure.
