President Musa Bihi Abdi is to appoint a committee that will help prepare for the upcoming Somaliland-Somalia talks.
The President is expected to select from a team of experts who will lead and participate in the discussions with Somalia.
Currently, the two countries are not in talks after the previous attempts to bring them together collapsed.
Nevertheless, Ethiopian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, is leading the drive for the next phase of discussions.
Bihi’s committee will most likely comprise top scholars, especially those who took part in the initial discussions under the administration of former President Ahmed Silanyo.
Several politicians are likely to be in the team too. Reports indicate that the current Minister of Foreign Affairs would be Chair the Committee.
The news come just when President Bihi had said that his government had no plans for reconvening the stalled talks with representatives from Somalia.
