President Muse Bihi Abdi of the Republic of Somaliland delivered a powerful speech on Friday in Tog-Wajaale, a border town, where he condemned Egypt’s stance toward Somaliland.
Bihi criticized Egypt’s alleged hostility, accusing the country of attempting to drag Somaliland into renewed conflict.
President Bihi’s statements came in response to the increasing tension following a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Somaliland and Ethiopia, which he claimed has exposed hidden adversaries who are leveraging the situation for Egypt’s benefit.
According to the Somaliland News Agency (SOLNA), President Bihi emphasized the escalating pressure from Egypt and warned of its efforts to instigate a proxy war against Somaliland.
He highlighted that this conflict is not just about figures like Hassan Sheikh Mohamud or other external actors but is driven by a broader strategic move by Egypt.
His comments suggest a complex geopolitical tension in the Horn of Africa, where regional and international interests often intersect and lead to strained relations among neighboring entities.
