The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, inaugurated a newly purchased drilling rig by the Hargeisa Water Agency during a ceremony held at the agency’s headquarters on October 6, 2024.
The event was attended by key government officials, parliamentarians, business leaders, and traditional elders.
The Director of the Hargeisa Water Agency, Mohamed Ali Darood, highlighted the rig’s capacity to drill wells up to 600 meters deep.
He noted that the $500,000 investment will reduce the agency’s dependence on private rigs, marking a step forward in the region’s efforts to improve water access.
The speakers at the event acknowledged the agency’s achievements in bolstering water infrastructure in Somaliland.
