President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland has received Ethiopian Consul General at the Presidential Palace.
In a ceremony held in Hargeisa on Saturday, Bihi welcomed Ambassador Saed Mohamed Jibril, who takes over as the new Ethiopian Consul General.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed recently appointed Ambassador Jibril to represent his government and the entire country in Somaliland.
During the ceremony, Bihi and Jibril talked about the need for consolidating bilateral ties between their two nations.
The two leaders also discussed trade and movements along the border by people from both countries.
They also mentioned the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in the Horn of Africa.
Ethiopia is one of the few countries that have maintained strong diplomatic relations with Somaliland ever since the latter broke away from Somalia in 1991.
