The Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) has welcomed President Muse Bihi Abdi’s decrees aimed at promoting fairness and transparency in upcoming elections.
The electoral commission said it supports the decree ensuring equal access for all candidates to government media outlets and campaign venues.
It hailed the prohibition regarding the use of public resources for election campaigning to prevent misuse of government assets.
NEC also threw its weight behind the directive by President Bihi to support it to ensure adequate security during the election process, ensuring a safe and orderly environment.
These steps reflect the administration’s commitment to a fair and free electoral process in Somaliland.
For the first time in its history, Somaliland will hold presidential and parliamentary elections on the same day, November 13, 2024.
