President Deni Hails Police for Preventing an ISIS Attack

President Said Abdullahi Deni of the Puntland State has hailed the police for preventing an ISIS attack in the region.

According to security officials, ISIS had planned an attack at Bosaso, which is one of Puntland’s coastal towns.

In the Saturday operation, police killed two militants and injured one more when Somali forces clashed with the militants.

While speaking to journalists, the Commander of Somali troops in the region, Hussein Ali Mohamed, said ISIS members attacked local police in the town.

“The attack against police officers took place while they were on a patrol. They were ambushed before a gunfight ensued during which two militants were killed,” said Mohamed.

While hailing the security forces, President Deni said that his government will continue working with federal and state officers to eradicate Al-Shabaab from the region.
