President Hassan Chairs Security Meeting in South West State

BAIDOA — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, recently chaired a high-level security and administrative meeting in Baidoa, the provisional capital of South West State.

Managing the Regional Transition

The strategic gathering focused intensely on the localized security situation, effectively managing the rapid recent administrative shifts, and laying the groundwork for establishing a highly inclusive, transparent justice system throughout the regional state.

This comprehensive security and governance review directly complements the President’s broader ongoing agenda in Baidoa, where he arrived earlier this week to oversee the complex political transition and accelerate the delivery of essential social services to the civilian population.

The push for an inclusive regional justice system also aligns closely with the Federal Cabinet’s recent, sweeping legislative approvals aimed at boosting nationwide governance, strictly enforcing the rule of law, and enhancing civilian protections.

Briefings from the Armed Forces

During the closed-door session, President Hassan Sheikh received detailed, tactical briefings directly from frontline commanders of the Somali National Armed Forces (SNA) and senior federal security officials.

The military leadership presented robust, ongoing strategic plans to permanently stabilize the heavily contested region. The discussions heavily emphasized accelerating kinetic operations against entrenched Al-Shabaab militant networks and dramatically improving operational coordination among all active federal and regional security agencies.

Ensuring absolute alignment between the military apparatus and the newly established civilian administration is a top priority for Villa Somalia, especially following the recent decree where the Prime Minister officially named an interim leader to guide South West State through this critical period of political and security restructuring.
