Mogadishu, Somalia – The national commemoration of Somali Teachers’ Day is taking place at Mogadishu Stadium, attended by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the Minister of Education, and other senior officials. Thousands of students from schools and universities throughout the capital have gathered at the venue to observe the event.
This year’s event represents the first major celebration in 24 years, since the previous large-scale event in 2001, which former President Dr. Abdiqasim Salad Hassan attended. The resurgence of the commemoration emphasizes the nation’s renewed dedication to honoring teachers and acknowledging their essential role in reconstructing Somalia’s education system.
