Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia’s Federal Republic President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, welcomed Somali international referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan at the Presidential Palace today. Artan was recently named Africa’s Best Referee of 2025 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
President Mohamud congratulated the referee again on this landmark accomplishment, observing that the award highlights his professionalism, commitment, and the outstanding efforts he has made to advance his refereeing career. The President pointed out that Artan’s triumph raises Somalia’s profile worldwide and voiced certainty that he will attain even greater successes internationally.
Artan, for his part, thanked the President for the cordial welcome and appreciation, explaining that the recognition drives him to keep representing Somalia with distinction in international sports forums.
