President leads Friday prayer at Bakara Mosque, speaks on sovereignty

Mogadishu Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud observed Friday prayers at Abu Huraira Mosque in the capital’s Bakara Market, joined by hundreds of worshippers. Cabinet ministers, senior military commanders, and the Banadir regional governor accompanied the president.

Following the service, he delivered a sermon addressing the nation’s current affairs, detailing the federal government’s diplomatic and legal measures to counter external interventions that challenge Somalia’s unity and sovereignty. He stressed that his administration has made substantial progress in confronting destabilizing foreign ambitions, especially attempts to violate Somalia’s territorial integrity.

The president called on citizens to unite against foreign interference and any moves to establish unauthorized military bases on Somali territory that could spark regional instability. His remarks reinforced the government’s commitment to preserving national independence and strengthening collective responsibility in defending Somalia’s sovereignty.
