President Ahmed Mohamed Islam, who is more commonly referred to as Madobe, was in Kismayo for a meeting with opposition leaders.
Accompanying him to the meeting were two opposition leaders; namely, Sheikh Dahir and Abdirashid Hidig.
Additionally, members of Jubaland Parliament also turned up to the meeting to witness a historic event that has been applauded nationally and internationally.
The United Nations Office in Somalia recently released a statement hailing the parties for reaching an agreement to bury the hatchet and work together for the sake of the region.
Further, the meeting comes in the wake of the decision by the Federal Government of Somalia not to recognize President Madobe’s election on August 22, 2020.
