President Mohamud Advocates Consensus on Somali Elections

In his closing remarks at the four-day gathering in Mogadishu, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud revealed that he maintains “consistent private communication” with certain opposition figures, all of whom share the view that indirect elections are not viable for Somalia.

Despite differing views on the most suitable electoral model, President Hassan firmly expressed his unwavering confidence in reaching a peaceful compromise. He emphasized the need to prioritize stability and unity over deadly conflict and division, paving the way for a sustainable political future for Somalia.
