President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appointed two new commanders in the Somali National Army (SNA), according to announcements posted on Sunday.
A communiqué from the Ministry of Defense shows that the President appointed General Sahal Abdullahi Omar as the new Commander of Land Forces.
Similarly, it confirmed the appointment of Lt. Colonel Hassan Salah Abdi as the Commander of Special Forces.
In making the appointments, President Mohamud acknowledged their commitment to strengthening Somalia’s security forces.
This leadership change is aimed at bolstering the effectiveness of military operations, particularly in the ongoing fight against al-Shabab and other security challenges facing the nation.
The President also extended deep gratitude to the outgoing commanders for their dedicated service, highlighting their valuable contributions to Somalia’s stability and resilience.
