President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s arrived in Moqokori as he kicked off his visit to the regional state of HirShabelle on Tuesday.
The visit underscores the Somali government’s dedication to military operations and the stabilization of liberated regions in the fight against extremist groups.
This visit is part of a broader strategy to enhance security and governance across Somalia.
In recent months, President Mohamud has engaged in diplomatic efforts to strengthen regional relations and address security challenges.
In January 2025, he visited Ethiopia to restore and enhance bilateral ties, following tensions over Ethiopia’s agreement with Somaliland regarding naval access.
Additionally, in October 2024, President Mohamud visited Eritrea to bolster ties and counter regional influences, reflecting Somalia’s commitment to regional cooperation in addressing security concerns.
These diplomatic initiatives complement domestic efforts, such as the visit to HirShabelle, to stabilize and develop areas reclaimed from extremist groups, ensuring lasting peace and security in Somalia.
