President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended a reception hosted by the United Kingdom Embassy in Somalia to celebrate King Charles III’s birthday.
During the event, the President expressed his gratitude to the UK government for its consistent support to Somalia across various sectors.
In his address, he emphasized his administration’s dedication to implementing a one person, one vote electoral system, a significant shift from the traditional clan-based power-sharing model.
President Mohamud highlighted the importance of this democratic transition, noting that “more democracy is better than one” and affirming that it reflects the aspirations of the Somali people.
This commitment is part of broader efforts to strengthen governance and ensure political inclusivity in Somalia.
