Mogadishu, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud welcomed Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan to the Presidential Palace, recognizing his win of the 2025 African Referee of the Year award from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The President commended Artan’s accomplishment, noting it brings pride and acclaim to the Somali people.
The President offered fresh congratulations on the achievement and observed that the award highlights Cartan’s expertise, commitment, and hard work in building his career. He stated that Artan’s triumph shows Somalis’ capacity to succeed internationally, while expressing optimism for the referee’s future global successes.
