Mogadishu, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has extended heartfelt condolences to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the government, and the people of Nigeria following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a message shared on Monday, President Mohamud expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Nigerian statesman, lauding Buhari’s enduring legacy of service, integrity, and commitment to national stability and progress.
“His lifelong dedication to the Nigerian people and his relentless pursuit of peace and development will be remembered across Africa,” President Mohamud stated.
The Somali leader underscored the strong historical and diplomatic ties between Somalia and Nigeria, recalling Buhari’s principled leadership both at home and on the continental stage, especially his contributions to peacekeeping and regional cooperation during his time in office.
Former President Buhari, who served from 2015 to 2023, was a prominent figure in African politics and a staunch advocate for anti-corruption, security reforms, and economic revitalization in Nigeria.
President Mohamud concluded his tribute by praying for strength and comfort for the bereaved family and the people of Nigeria during this period of mourning.
