President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has returned home from Dubai where he had been attending the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP28).
The President’s plane landed at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu on Tuesday evening.
Upon landing, President Mohamud addressed the media. He told them that appealed for urgent humanitarian assistance in the wake of the ongoing heavy rains and floods in the country.
President Mohamud added that Somalia needs urgent funds to repair infrastructure damaged by the floods.
“Climate disasters have huge financial implications to countries such as Somalia that are still reeling from decades of war and instability,” the President stated.
