The Jubbaland State House recently reported that mediators from Kenya, sent by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held talks with Jubbaland leader Ahmed Madobe in Kismayo.
The aim of the meeting was to resolve the ongoing standoff between the Federal Government of Somalia and the regional leadership of Jubbaland.
This diplomatic effort highlights Kenya’s continued role in supporting peace and reconciliation within Somalia’s complex federal structure.
Differences between President Mohamud and the Jubbaland leader came to the fore at last month’s National Consultative Council (NCC) forum in Mogadishu.
Subsequently, Madobe joined his Puntland counterpart, Said Abdullahi Deni, in keeping off the recent NCC Summit that took place a few days ago.
