President Mohamud Unveils Landmark Development Projects in Dhusamareb

Dhusamareb, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Thursday presided over the inauguration of several landmark projects in Galmudug’s capital, underscoring his administration’s commitment to strengthening state institutions and improving public services.

Among the projects officially opened were a state-of-the-art Galmudug Parliament Building, a new Municipal Headquarters, and a Construction Quality Assurance Center designed to regulate and enforce standards for road development across the state.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mohamud described the initiatives as “critical milestones for Galmudug’s progress and Somalia’s broader state-building agenda.” He emphasized that the projects not only symbolize institutional growth but also provide practical tools for good governance and infrastructure development.

The new parliament building is expected to provide lawmakers with a modern space to deliberate on legislative affairs, while the municipal headquarters will streamline local government services for Dhusamareb residents. The Construction Quality Assurance Center, the first of its kind in the region, will play a vital role in ensuring that public infrastructure projects—particularly road construction—meet safety and durability standards.

Local officials hailed the President’s visit and the new facilities as a turning point for Dhusamareb. Galmudug State President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor said the projects would “strengthen the capacity of institutions to serve citizens and build confidence in the governance system.”

The inaugurations come at a time when the federal government is intensifying efforts to consolidate stability in central Somalia, with a focus on development alongside security operations against Al-Shabaab.
