President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor of Somalia’s semiautonomous state of Galmudug has urged locals to support his government’s fight against Al-Shabaab.
In recent times, Al-Shabaab has increased its presence around the country. It has attacked civilians, government officers, politicians, and security officials.
President Qoorqoor aimed his message at the residents of Bandarqaali in Mudug.
He said the fight against the Al-Qaeda linked group would not be won without the support and input of local residents.
Mudug officials welcomed President Qoorqoor and members of his government when he toured the region.
Members of Parliament representing the Federal Government of Somalia accompanied him on his tour together with several state ministers.
Their delegation met with local elders and community leaders to discuss security matters affecting the region.
Qoorqoor urged local residents to report any suspicious activity b Al-Shabaab in the region to security authorities.
