A committee that will supervise the Presidential Elections in Galmudug has been sworn into office. Galmudug parliament appointed the team and mandated them to start working immediately.
Mohammed Hussein Tahlil will be the committee’s chairman. His vice-chairman will be Abdirahim Ahmed Egal. The appointment of the two leaders comes after a huge row on who would guide it. Alhu Sunna wanted the chairman to come from its side.
Having taken the oath of office, the committee must now set timelines of its activities. It has the mandate to plan and supervise the election of a new president too. The winner must garner 50%+1 of the 89 votes, which is the number of MPs currently serving in the state assembly.
