Presidents of the Federal Member States (FMS) in Somalia held a video conference call with several foreign ambassadors representing their nations in the country.
Representatives from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) were at the meeting too.
Ambassadors representing their countries at the meeting were those from the United States, United Nations, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
Others were from Germany, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Ethiopia, Italy, and the European Union (EU).
During the meeting, participants talked about various issues.
Among these were COVID-19 and security. They also discussed matters to do with political space and freedoms in the country.
Additionally, issues regarding the relations between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and FMS were put on the table too.
The discussions, which President Mohamed Abdi Ware of HirShabelle State described as “frank and productive” also delved into the upcoming elections towards the end of 2020.
