Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the newest international bank in Somalia.
The Prime Minister welcomed the CEOs from Zinat Katilim Bank of Turkey to his office in Mogadishu.
In their Monday talks, the Prime Minister thanked the CEOs for opening and operationalizing the bank over the weekend.
The Central Bank of Somalia licensed the bank to operate in the country in July 2022.
Prime Minister Barre extended his gratitude to the bank for boosting trade between Somalis and Turks after opening the Mogadishu branch.
Zinat Katilim became the first international bank to operate in the East African nation.
Ibrahim M. Yagli, Turkey’s Ambassador to Somalia, was present during the meeting between the Prime Minister and the bank’s executives.
