Prime Minister Barre Urges Religious Leaders to Support Operations against Al-Shabaab

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has called upon religious leaders in Somalia to support the ongoing offensives against Al-Shabaab terrorists.

The Prime Minister issued this call on Sunday evening while leading a ceremony held to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the deadly attack at Zobe Junction in Mogadishu.

Specifically, his call was to Imams, Sheikhs, and religious scholars.

He called on them to speak out against the teachings of the terrorists, who are referred to as Khawarij in Somalia.

Prime Minister Barre encouraged the scholars who are unable to speak out against terrorists to step aside and leave room to those willing to take the Khawarij on.

Barre commended those who have been speaking out against Al-Shabaab and other similar groups from mosques.
