Prime Minister Roble Sacks NISA Director

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has sacked Fahad Yasin, the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

Roble relived Director Yasin of his duties on September 6.

Yasin’s sack comes a few hours after the deadline Roble issued him to provide proper explanation into the murder of Ikran Tahlil.

The deadline expired on Sunday night.

Prime Minister Roble had expressed his displeasure at the explanation by NISA regarding agent Tahlil’s murder. According to NISA, Al-Shabaab militants had killed the female spy.

Roble’s decision to sack Yasin is likely to cause a rift between him and President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

Yasin is President Farmaajo’s close confidant.
