Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble is intent on pursuing improved diplomatic ties between Somalia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Prime Minister made his intentions known while receiving grants from the UAE to support Somalis suffering from the effects of the ongoing drought.
Roble received the grants on January 13 in his office in Mogadishu.
Somalia and UAE have not enjoyed solid diplomatic relations since 2018 when Somali officials seized $10 million worth of funds from a UAE plane.
Back then, UAE claimed the funds were for training Somali troops.
On its part, Somalia said that UAE wanted to use the funds to destabilize it.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Roble promised UAE officials that Somalia would refund the money.
