He is member of the 10th parliament. In 2017 he was appointed as chairman of the parliamentary committee on ethics and immunity. He had previously served as interior minister and deputy minister of social development in Somalia. Mohamud Moalim Yahya was a member of the parliament in 2009-2012, and member of ARS. Prior to joining politics, he was a teacher who worked in various schools between 1994-2003.
