Nuur won his Parliament seat by competing against former Hirshabelle President Ali Abdillaahi Osoble and former Head of NISA Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sambaloolshe, who had to vacate this seat after he was appointed as Head of NISA. The election took place in Jowhar in January 2018. Nuur got 27 votes while Sambaloolshe was only able to get 24 votes.
