Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somali National Army (SNA) announced it eliminated a senior Al-Shabaab commander in an overnight joint operation with local forces in the Cali Heele area, roughly 30 km west of Masagawaay in central Galgaduud region.
The military named the killed militant as Ahmed Sheikh Omar Cadow Gacal, whom it accused of organizing attacks in Middle Shabelle and overseeing improvised explosive device (IED) operations in Middle Shabelle, Hiraan, and Galgaduud.
Officials labeled him a central figure in planning assaults against civilians.
The Ministry of Defence commended the soldiers involved in the raid and affirmed that operations targeting the Islamist militants will persist across all fronts until their lingering networks are destroyed and national security is assured.
