On October 24, Puntland Security Force (PSF) carried out a naval operation that led to the capture of several Yemeni boats that were smuggling weapons out of the region illegally.
PSF carried out Saturday’s operation in the seawaters surrounding Ad-Ado and Lasqoray.
The security team undertook the operation deliberately to search the boats suspected of involvement in the illegal smuggling of weapons to Yemen.
For years, security experts have identified the waters around Somalia as one of the routes most preferred by illegal weapon smugglers.
Insiders from PSF said that similar operations would continue in the next few days and months.
The illegal smuggling of weapons is a huge detriment to the efforts by security teams in the region to keep Somalia and all the regional states secure.
