A few weeks ago, militants attacked Bosaso Prison with the intention of freeing their colleagues.
Several prisoners escaped in the ensuing melee.
Security forces rearrested several prisoners.
However, others escaped successfully. The recent military operation is designed to recapture those who escaped.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the Bosaso Prison attack.
