Public Transportation Operators to Cut Number of Passengers Carried by 50%

Somaliland’s Ministry of Transport has ordered all public transportation owners to cut the number of passengers they carry by 50 percent.

The announcement was made by Omer Abdilahi Aden, who is the Director General in the Ministry of Transport and Road Development.

Furthermore, Director General Aden said that the directive takes effect immediately.

He made the announcement during a meeting held in his office in Hargeisa with officials from Horseed Public Transport Operators.

Director General Aden said that directive is one of the measures the government is imposing to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The directive follows recommendations made by the National Committee on the Prevention of COVID-19.

All public transport vehicles that ply regional or upcountry routes are expected to adhere to this directive with immediate effect or run the risk of attracting the government’s wrath.
