Leaders from Puntland and Galmudug agreed to carry out joint security operations in the two semiautonomous states in Somalia.
The leaders made this announcement during a meeting held to discuss security issues.
Abdi Ladiff Muse Nur, the Governor of Mudug in Puntland, listed some of the issues discussed as the fight against Al-Shabaab and the need to secure the upcoming elections.
Other issues that received attention at the meeting included stopping inter-clan clashes and restricting exchange rates in both regions.
Abdirahman Diriye Ishal, the Governor of Galmudug’s Mudug Region, said that the two semiautonomous states would work together to ensure security for their people.
Henceforth, security agencies in the two federal states would carry out joint military operations to smoke out extremists who are intent on causing mayhem.
