Political leaders from Galmudug and Puntland held a pre-Mogadishu conference in Galkayo at the Presidential Palace.
President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland hosted his counterpart President Ahmed Kariye Qoorqoor of Galmudug on Friday.
Qoorqoor was inaugurated as the President of Galmudug two months ago. He arrived at Galkayo in the company of top officials from his government.
The primary agenda of the meeting was the need to boost relations between the two semiautonomous states in Somalia.
Additionally, the two leaders met to discuss the upcoming conference between the Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States in Mogadishu early next month.
Next month’s meeting between FGS and FMS is designed to deliberate several issues, which include the model to be used in Somalia’s upcoming polls.
Other issues to be discussed at the Mogadishu conference include COVID-19, Al-Shabaab, security, and the state of the economy.
