Puntland Security Forces (PSF) killed several ISIS militants during an operation carried out in the region on April 3.
For a long time, ISIS operatives have sought to create a base in the northern region.
Their intentions forced PSF to remain extra-vigilant to ensure that the militants do not succeed in their efforts.
On Saturday, PSF troops clashed with the ISIS militants in Balidhidin, Bari.
Sources revealed that PSF troops raided one of ISIS’ hideouts after receiving tip of a possible attack.
However, the PSF troops came under heavy improvised explosive device (IED) attacks while on their way to the hideout.
They sent for reinforcements that enabled them to foil the planned ISIS attack.
According to reports, the fighting occurred at Cal-Miskaad.
