The President of the regional state of Puntland has come under heavy criticism for the recent spate of clashes that rocked the area.
Opposition politicians accused President Said Abdullahi Deni of orchestrating the conflict that rocked Garowe in the last few days.
According to the politicians, President Deni orchestrated the clashes to suppress those who are against his political aspirations.
They spoke after holding a meeting in Garowe on Thursday.
In the press statement they released after the meeting, the opposition politicians accused Deni of fomenting a crisis similar to the one of June 2023 in Garowe, which claimed over 30 lives.
Many opposition politicians believe that Deni wants to remain in power for a further two years.
However, the Puntland Electoral Commission (PEC) is preparing for parliamentary elections to be held on January 8, 2024.
