President Said Abdullahi Deni of the regional state of Puntland has appointed Mohamed Osman Diyano Abdullahi the commander of the Puntland Security Force (PSF).
Deni announced Diyano’s reappointment on March 2.
The Puntland leader has sent Diyano packing from office towards the end of last year over some squabbles the two had at the time.
Diyano’s sacking in November 2021 led to deadly clashes between rival government troops in the port city of Bosaso.
Following a consultative meeting between President Deni and Puntland elders, he agreed to reinstate Diyano.
A communiqué from the Office of the Puntland President announced Diyano’s reappointment on March 4.
